Jonathan Ng

P. Eng., LL.B.

Jonathan assists clients in the preparation of wills, enduring powers of attorney, personal directives, and trusts. He also advises executors and attorneys on the administration of estates. In addition to his experience making court applications for grants of probate and administration, he has appeared before the Court of King’s Bench on applications for the validation of non-compliant wills, variation of trusts, and family maintenance and support.

He has provided seminars for many organizations, namely: Canadian Association of Gift Planners, CARP (formerly the Canadian Association for Retired Persons), Kerby Centre, Hull Services, and several financial institutions. Jonathan is active in the community of estate practitioners as a member of The Canadian Bar Association (Wills & Trusts Section) and the Estate Planning Council of Calgary.

Jonathan obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary. During law school, he was awarded the Grant McKibben Prize, given to a graduating student who epitomizes the energy and spirit of the Calgary law school community. Jonathan now serves as a co-instructor for the Wills & Estates course at the Faculty of Law.

Prior to studying law, Jonathan obtained his Bachelor of Engineering & Society degree from McMaster University where he specialized in chemical engineering. He worked as an engineer for a multinational pulp and paper company and was active in government committees concerning solid waste management.

Jonathan is married to Melissa and they are busy parents to Violet and Nathan.

Jonathan was selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2024 Edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada™ for his work in Trusts and Estates.
